Witch Illustration In Political Publication
This piece was the second piece for my final project submission in my Illustration/Drawing class. An assignment that our professor had given us was to take a word that we drew out of a hat and illustrate our own interpretation of it. The word I drew out of the hat was “scary”. The first case of Ebola to hit the US was confirmed around Halloween. At the time, I couldn’t think of anything more scarier than Ebola. I chose to do a Halloween themed political cartoon with the topic being the CDC’s handling of the Ebola case. I used storyboards to draw thumbnails of my word “scary” and once I decided on the one I was to use, I drew the cartoon on Bristol board, then scanned it into a jpg. I then incorporated my drawing into a political cartoon, which I put into a mock political magazine layout in Adobe InDesign using a couple of additional pictures that I found in the public domain. The drawing edits were completed using Adobe Photoshop.
